Alright, folks, gather ’round. Today, I’m gonna share my experience about remaking a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100R-010. Yeah, you heard that right. It’s a pretty fancy watch, and I decided to give it a shot.
Getting Started
First things first, I started by doing some digging online. I looked up a bunch of stuff about this watch model. You know, prices, specifications, and all that jazz. I found that the original ones are crazy expensive, like, way out of my budget. But I was determined, so I kept going.
The Hunt for Information
I scoured the internet, comparing different listings and information I could find. There were a lot of these watches being sold on various websites, all with different prices and conditions. It was a bit overwhelming, but I took notes and organized everything. I saw some going for around $355,000, others even higher. Crazy, right?
Finding the Right Parts
Next, I started looking for the parts I needed. I knew this was gonna be a challenge. I needed a rose gold case, about 31 by 34.8 mm. Then there’s the dial. Oh boy, the dial. It’s supposed to be diamond-paved, which is a whole other level of complicated. I searched high and low, contacted a few sellers, and asked around in some forums. Finally I get some right parts.
Putting It Together
Once I had all the parts, it was time to put them together. This was the trickiest part. I carefully assembled everything, making sure not to mess up. The original watch has a manual winding mechanism, so I tried to replicate that as best as I could. It took a lot of patience and a steady hand, but I managed to get it all together.
The Final Result
After all that work, I finally finished the remake. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty darn proud of it. It looked similar to the original, with the rose gold case and the sparkly dial. Of course, it wasn’t exactly like the real deal, but it was close enough for me.
