Hey everyone, it’s your boy back with another cool project. So, I’ve been seeing this Prada Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag everywhere. I mean, seriously, it’s all over TikTok – like, 32 million views on the hashtag? Crazy, right? And all the celebs, like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, are rocking it. I figured, why not try to make my own? Plus, I heard that Prada bags can actually hold their value, or even go up in price, so it seemed like a fun challenge.
First thing I did was look up the bag online. Apparently, it’s a remake of a style from 1995. It’s made from this stuff called Re-Nylon, which sounds fancy. The original bag is made from some kind of fancy brushed leather, but I am going to use this Re-Nylon stuff, it’s some kind of technical fabric. I just want to make a basic version first. I found out that this bag has padding and top-stitching on it, which is kind of the details that make it look cool, also it got this enamel triangle logo on the front and a chain-link shoulder strap.
So, I went and gathered some materials. I didn’t have any Re-Nylon, but I found some durable nylon fabric at a local store. It felt pretty similar, so I thought it would work. I also picked up some batting for the padding, thread, a zipper, and a chain for the strap. I don’t have any enamel triangle logo, but let’s see if I can find anything later. For the chain, I just found an old necklace that I didn’t wear anymore. It wasn’t the exact same, but it gave a similar vibe. And don’t even get me started on finding the perfect zipper. Let’s just say I went to three different stores!
Next, I sketched out the design. I just eyeballed it from the pictures I found online. I mean it’s a rectangle, how hard could it be? I cut out the fabric, making sure to add extra for the seams. I had to cut a lot more pieces than I expected to make the bag look padded. It’s a bit tricky to sew with nylon, but my old sewing machine managed. Stitching the padding was a whole other story. I had to take it slow to make sure it looked even.
I sewed the pieces together, added the zipper, and attached the chain. Honestly, it took way longer than I thought it would. Sewing the zipper was a pain, and I definitely messed up a few times. But hey, that’s part of the process, right? It felt like forever, but I finally got it all put together.

The Result
In the end, my bag doesn’t look exactly like the real Prada one, obviously. But you know what? I’m actually pretty proud of it. It’s got that same boxy shape, and the padding and stitching give it a similar kind of vibe. I can tell that it’s definitely inspired by the Prada bag. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I made it myself. Who knows, maybe this will be my new everyday bag. It’s definitely a conversation starter! And hey, maybe it’ll even go up in value someday, you never know. This is a good start, and maybe I can try to make a better one next time!
