Hey everyone, today I’m gonna share my little project – remaking a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100R-010. Yeah, you heard that right, the classic style one. I’ve always been a huge fan of those fancy watches, but, you know, they cost a fortune. So, I thought, why not try making one myself?
First off, I started digging around for info. Found some stuff about a “Kp Patek Philippe 7042/100G-010” on some website and another thing about a “Patek Philippe Gondolo 2024 New 7042/100G.” These were a bit different with white gold and stuff, but hey, close enough. I just needed a general idea, you know?
I saw a picture of the real deal – “The Patek Philippe Gondolo 31 x 34.8mm in rose gold.” That was my target. Looked so darn elegant. And there was this description about it being like “an alluring jewel.” I totally agreed.
Getting Down to Business
- Gathering materials: This was tricky. I couldn’t afford real gold, obviously. So, I went for some gold-plated stuff and some other bits and pieces that looked similar. Found some decent-looking faux diamonds too. I mean, it’s all about the look, right?
- The case: I found a watch case that was sort of the same shape, about 31mm. It wasn’t perfect, but it did the job. I polished it up a bit to make it look nicer.
- The dial: This was the hardest part. I tried to copy the design I saw on the “Patek Philippe Gondolo Haute Joaillerie 31mm 7042-100R-010 Diamond Dial.” It had this cool pattern and a bunch of shiny diamonds. I used some tiny rhinestones and a lot of patience to recreate it.
- The movement: Okay, I just used a regular quartz movement. Nothing fancy, just something that would make the watch tick.
- Putting it all together: This took a while. I had to be super careful with the tiny screws and stuff. My hands were shaking a few times, not gonna lie. But in the end, I managed to put it all together.
The Big Reveal
And there it was, my homemade Gondolo. It wasn’t a real Patek Philippe, of course. But it looked pretty good, I think. It had that classic vibe and a bit of sparkle. I wore it out a couple of times, and people actually asked me about it. They thought it was a real expensive watch! I just smiled and said, “Yeah, it’s a special one.”
So, that’s my story of remaking a Patek Philippe. It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot. Plus, I got a cool-looking watch out of it. Maybe one day I’ll get a real one, but for now, I’m pretty happy with my little creation.
