Man, I’ve been wanting to do this for ages, and today I finally took the plunge and started working on a remake of the Prada Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag. It’s such a classic style, you know? I’ve always loved how it brings together those timeless Prada vibes with a laid-back feel.

So, first things first, I gathered all my materials. This bag’s made of Re-Nylon, which is like this cool technical fabric that Prada’s been using. It’s supposed to be all about blending craftsmanship and innovation, which sounds pretty fancy, right? I managed to find some Re-Nylon fabric that seemed like a good match.

  • Re-Nylon fabric
  • Leather for the handles and tag
  • Chain-link material for the straps
  • Zipper for the internal pocket
  • Lining fabric
  • Sewing machine and other sewing supplies

Then, I got down to the actual making part. I started by cutting the Re-Nylon fabric according to the pattern I drafted. I took my time with this because, you know, measure twice, cut once! After that, I added some padding and started top-stitching. This is what gives the bag that plush, quilted look. It’s a bit time-consuming, but totally worth it for the effect.

Making the Straps

Next up, the straps. The original bag has these two leather and chain-link shoulder straps, which I think are super chic. I cut the leather to the right length and width, and then I got to work on the chain-link part. I had to link each piece together, which was a bit fiddly, but I got there in the end. Then, I attached the leather and chain-link parts together to create the straps.

Adding the Details

With the main body and straps done, I moved on to the details. I made a little leather tag, just like the original. For the inside, I added a zip-fastening pocket – gotta have somewhere to stash your valuables, right? And of course, I sewed in an internal logo plaque. It’s all about those little touches.

Finally, I put everything together. I attached the straps to the main body, sewed in the lining, and added the zipper to the top. And there you have it, my very own Prada Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag!

It was a lot of work, but honestly, I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it definitely captures that classic Prada style. And it feels good to know I made it myself. Plus, I saved myself a couple of grand – the real deal starts at around $2,350, can you believe it? I read online that Prada launched their Re-Nylon line in 2019, and it’s all about innovation and duality, which I think is pretty cool. Anyway, I’m off to show off my new bag!
