Okay, so I’ve been eyeing the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch for a while now, the one with the sapphire crystal. You know, the fancy one. Finally, I decided to pull the trigger and head over to the official flagship store. Let me tell you, it was quite the experience.
First off, I browsed through their website, just to get a feel for the different versions. I mean, they have a ton of Speedmasters. But I was set on the Moonwatch Professional, the classic one. The website said that it has a 42mm case diameter. I thought to myself that I must try it out in person before I buy it.
So, I got dressed, feeling all excited like a kid on Christmas morning, and drove to the nearest flagship store. Walked in, and wow, it was like watch heaven. All those shiny timepieces. A really nice salesperson, a sharp-dressed guy named Tom, came over and asked if he could help. I told him I was there for the Moonwatch Sapphire.
Trying It On
- Tom brought out this beautiful black box. He opened it with these white gloves, like it was some priceless artifact. Inside was the watch, gleaming under the store lights. It was even more stunning in person.
- He let me try it on. I slipped it on my wrist, and man, it felt substantial. Not too heavy, but just the right weight. That 42mm size? Perfect. It actually wore smaller than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. The watch felt good on my wrist. Even better than my 41mm Rolex Datejust!
- I spent a good 20 minutes just admiring it, turning it over, checking out the movement through the sapphire case back. Tom patiently explained all the features, the chronograph, the history, you name it. He even mentioned that it was worn during the first American spacewalk! That’s some history!
Making the Purchase
After much deliberation, (and a few nervous glances at my bank account), I decided to go for it. The price tag was around $7,000, so yeah, it was a big purchase. But I figured, this is an iconic watch, a piece of history, and something I’d cherish for years. Plus the website also mentioned the price is somewhere around $6,800, so I thought that it was not too far off.
Tom rang me up, and the whole process was super smooth. They even gave me a nice little booklet about the watch’s history and how to care for it. I walked out of that store feeling like a million bucks, with my new Moonwatch proudly on my wrist. I will definitely produce another blog post to share my experience with this watch in the future.
Honestly, it was more than just buying a watch. It felt like I was buying into a legacy. If you’re thinking about getting a Speedmaster, I highly recommend going to the official store and getting the full experience. It’s worth it. And if you see Tom, tell him I said hi!
