OK, guys, let’s talk about what I did today. I tried to remake a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001, you know, the one with the original order. This thing is pretty, with its rectangular case and 18k rose gold. And let me tell you, it was a doozy.
First, I got all the materials together. We’re talking high-quality stuff here. The case? Rose gold, just like the original. I found a supplier online that had some good-looking rose gold, and it seemed to match the listing photos of the original watch, which are around $26,112. I started by examining the watch parts. I made sure everything was as close to the original as I could get it.
- Case: I shaped the rectangular case, this wasn’t easy. Patek Philippe makes their Gondolo collection with these “form” watches, meaning they’re not your regular round shape. But, I managed to get it right, it was a real pain.
- Dial: That cream diamond-set dial on the original is a real looker. I tried my best to replicate it, using some tiny faux diamonds and a similar cream-colored material for the base. It’s not perfect, but it’s close enough.
- Crystal: Sapphire crystal, of course. It’s tough and looks just like the real deal. I got a piece cut to fit the case perfectly.
Next, I assembled everything. This is the part where I almost lost my mind a few times. You wouldn’t believe how tiny some of these parts are. But I took it slow, used my finest tweezers, and got it all together.
Finally, after all that work, I had something that looked pretty darn close to a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001. Not bad, right? It’s not the real thing, of course, but it was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Maybe I’ll try a different model next time, who knows.
Anyway, that’s my story. It was a wild ride, but I’m happy with how it turned out. What do you guys think?
