A National Cabinet meeting scheduled for Friday has been postponed following technical issues with flying Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison out of Cairns.

It’s believed Mr Morrison – who has been in Queensland all week and today spent the day in Cairns – is unable to return to Sydney for tomorrow’s meeting due to “technical issues” with his private RAAF plane.

The meeting, what would have been the first National Cabinet meeting in a month, was set to be held via secure video teleconference.

It will now take place next week.

Mr Morrison has spent the week in Queensland ahead of the state elections at the end of the month.

More to come.
